Awakening Minds Art

Established as a 501c3 Nonprofit Organization in July 2011 Awakening Minds Art originally was a part of the nationwide organization called Art Without Boundaries. In 2010 Sarah Crisp decided to break away from the organization and build the program independently to fit the needs of the community.

AMA originally began as a traveling program, working only in student's homes, schools and nursing homes. The studio has had three other "homes" since the decision was made to build a custom 'headquarters' for the organization, landing in the heart of downtown Findlay on Main Street, across from the Courthouse. AMA also has two satellite studios- one in Shawnee, Lima inside Bittersweet Farms and the other inside the Leipsic Community Center.

Children's Museum of Findlay

The Children's Museum of Findlay, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, has been inspiring children, connecting families, and building community through exploration, exhibits, programming, and play since we opened our doors in July 2014.

We are a museum just for kids! Located in the Findlay Village Mall, our hands-on exhibits help children aged birth to ten years old learn all about science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics through a variety of activities tailored just for their learning experience.

Play matters to us because playing is critical for children as it strongly benefits their health and development mentally, physically, emotionally, and socially. CMF provides a safe place where kids can be creative and stretch their imaginations playing in our locally-focused exhibits. At CMF, kids can pretend to be a firefighter, work or shop in the grocery store, practice recycling in the recycling truck, use the farming tractors, and much more.

School groups, children with special needs, parents, caregivers, and teachers use the Museum space as a place to learn and play. Partnerships with community organizations help us provide weekly educational programming for members and non-members alike throughout the year.

Findlay City Schools Parent Mentor 3+ years

The Parent Mentor Program is based on the assumption that students with disabilities will be ensured an appropriate and meaningful education if parents and educators can communicate effectively and opeationalize the partnership planning required by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

Districts choose to implement the Parent Mentor Program to promote this necessary and effective communication by providing information and support to families about special education issues and by providing a mechanism to convey the family perspective back to the system.

Findlay City Schools Special Education

School districts across the state of Ohio are participating in an effort to identify, locate, and evaluate all children from birth through 21 years of age who may have disabilities. Disability, in this instance, means such conditions as hearing impairments, visual impairments, speech or language impairments, specific learning disabilities, emotionally disturbed, multiple disabilities, cognitive delays, other health impairments, physical impairments, autism, and traumatic brain injury. Public schools have responded vigorously to federal and state mandates requiring the provision of a free appropriate public education regardless of a child's disability. But before school districts can serve children, they must be found. Many children with disabilities are not visible because they do not function in the mainstream of the community, such as children who are homeless and children of migrant families. Also, many unidentified children with disabilities are preschoolers. Parents may not be aware their child has a disability or that there are programs and services available.

We're 2.5 million strong - more than 1.7 million girls and 750,000 adults who believe in the power of every G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader)™ to change the world.

Our extraordinary journey began more than 100 years ago with the original G.I.R.L., Juliette Gordon "Daisy" Low. On March 12, 1912, in Savannah, Georgia, she organized the very first Girl Scout troop, and every year since, we've honored her vision and legacy, building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.

We're the preeminent leadership development organization for girls. And with programs from coast to coast and across the globe, Girl Scouts offers every girl a chance to practice a lifetime of leadership, adventure, and success.
